Pastel Layered Cake
2012 April 23
Last weekend I brought one of my favorite Spring trends, pastels, into the kitchen. I’d seen (and drooled over) a handful of ombre layered cakes, but wasn’t sure if I could master the gradual transition of colors from light to dark, so I settled on a pastel colored cake instead. I used a basic white cake mix with simple white frosting, and achieved the light colors by adding one drop of food coloring at a time and mixing it into the batter to avoid going too dark. The results were exactly as I had hoped – moist pastel cake layered between creamy white frosting.

I can vouch for this one!!!
Thank you!
Not only is the cake really really pretty, but it looks tasty too! :)

Oh good, I’m so glad!!! Let me know how it turns out! Just be sure to add the food color gradually because you can go from too light to too dark with just a couple of drops ;)
